Salvation Is More Than Ordinary Life
Salvation is not simply about becoming a better version of yourself—it is an invitation into something far beyond the ordinary.
When you place your faith in Jesus Christ, God does more than forgive your past. He brings you into a new kind of life—one marked by purpose, transformation, and eternal significance.
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” —Jesus (Gospel according to John 10:10)
This is not a shallow or temporary change. Salvation introduces you to a life shaped by God’s presence, guided by His truth, and empowered by His Spirit. What once seemed ordinary begins to carry eternal meaning.
A Life Transformed by God’s Power
To be saved means:
-
You are no longer defined by your past
-
You are invited into God’s redemptive story
-
You live with hope that goes beyond circumstances
-
Your life takes on eternal value and direction
“We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” —Ephesians 2:10
Salvation moves us from merely existing to truly living—from the ordinary rhythms of life into a growing, extraordinary relationship with God.
Salvation: What It Means to Be Saved
What Is Salvation?
Even religious leaders in Jesus’ day knew something was missing. One of them came to Jesus seeking the way to truly know God. Jesus’ response was clear and surprising: “You must be born again.” (John 3:3)
Jesus explained that just as physical birth gives us physical life, only a spiritual rebirth—birth from above—can give us new life with God. This new birth is not something we achieve through good works or religious effort. It is something God does in us by His Spirit.
Salvation is God’s loving rescue plan for humanity. Salvation is not about religion or trying harder. It is about trusting Jesus Christ—who lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again—so that we can have forgiveness, freedom, and eternal life. It is through Jesus Christ that we are forgiven of our sin, restored into a right relationship with God, and given this new spiritual life. Again, Its not about becoming religious, or most of the world would already be connected to God—salvation is about being made completely new.
The Bible tells us that all of us fall short of God’s perfect standard (Romans 3:23), yet God, in His great love, made a way for us to be saved—not by our good works, but by His grace.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” —Ephesians 2:8–9
What Does It Mean to Be “Saved”?
To be "saved" means:
-
Your sins are forgiven through Jesus Christ
-
You are made right with God
-
You become a child of God
-
You receive new spiritual life
-
You have the promise of eternal life
“If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” —2 Corinthians 5:17
Being saved is not about perfection—it’s about a new direction and a growing relationship with Jesus.
How Can I Be Saved?
The New Testament of the Bible (the Good News of Jesus Christ) gives us a simple and clear pathway:
The ABCs of Salvation
-
Admit that you need God and cannot save yourself. This is repentance.
-
Believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son who died for your sins on the Cross and rose again
-
Confess Jesus as Lord and place your complete trust in Him for salvation.
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” —Romans 10:9
Salvation begins with faith—placing your full trust in Jesus alone.
How Can I Know I’m Saved?
Many people, like the religious leaders in Jesus' time, wonder...
“How can I be sure?” The assurance of salvation does not come from feelings or performance, but from God’s promises.
You can know you’re saved if:
-
You have trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior
-
You believe God’s Word is true
-
Your life shows evidence of spiritual growth and a desire to follow Christ
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” —1 John 5:13
While no one lives a perfect life, salvation produces a new life, a changed heart—new desires, a willingness to obey Christ's instructions, growing faith, and a love for God and others.
What Happens After I’m Saved?
Salvation is the beginning of a lifelong journey with God. Just as natural child grows, you grow spiritually as a believer:
-
You grow in your faith through praying (talking with God) and God’s Word (the Bible, especially reading the New Testament)
-
You connect with other believers in the church, you're welcome right here at Trinity Church!
- You get baptized in water as soon as possible
-
You begin to learn how to live out your faith daily
-
You become empowered by the Holy Spirit
God continues to shape and strengthen you as you walk with Him.
A Prayer to Begin a Relationship with Jesus
The prayer below is a way to communicate with God and express your belief in Jesus Christ.
If you are ready to place your trust in Jesus, you can begin right now with a simple, sample prayer like this:
“God, I know that I have sinned, that I cannot save myself, and need Your forgiveness. I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again. As best I know how, Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and life. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. I turn from my old life, I yield my life to Jesus, and place my trust in Him. From now on, help me live for You. Thank You for the promise of salvation and new life. Thank You for saving me. Amen.”
Remember this: The Bible tells us in Romans 10:9-10 that if we “declare with our mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved.” That's God's promise to you!
Salvation comes through genuine faith in Jesus—not just saying certain words. It’s more about believing from the inside of your heart and soul, and surrendering your life to Him than the specific words of a prayer.

plan to get baptized!
